Two blocks of equal masses are connected by an ideal string passing over an ideal pulley as shown in the figure

All the surfaces in contact with blocks are rough having coefficient of kinetic friction `mu` between them. If the blocks slide with constant velocity, find the value of `mu`

A

`2-sqrt(3)`

B

`1/2`

C

`2/3`

D

`1/4`

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
b

As the block are moving with constant velocity so net force blocks is zero `m g sin 53^(@)=T +F_(1)`

`therefore m g sin 53^(@) =F_(2)+F_(1)`
`m g sin 53^(@)=mu m g +mu m g cos 53^(@)`
`rarr 4/5 =mu(1+3/5) rarr 4/5=8/5mu rarr mu =1/2`
