Two blocks A and B of the same mass are ...

Two blocks A and B of the same mass are joined by a light string and placed on a horizontal surface. An external horizontal force P acts on A. The tension in the string is T. The forces of static friction acting on A and B are `F_(1)` and `F_(2)` respectively. The limiting value of `F_(1)` and `F_(2)` is `F_(0)`. As P is gradually increased.

A

(a)for `P lt F_(0), T = 0`

B

(b)For `F_(0) lt P lt 2F_(0), T = P - F_(0)`

C

(c)for `P gt F_(0), T = P//2`

D

(d)None of the above

The correct Answer is:
A, B, C

As P increases from 0 to `F_(0), F_(1)` also increases from 0 to `F_(0)` and till then T is zero. And when P further increases from `F_(0)` to `2F_(0)`, T and `F_(2)` both are equal and both increases from 0 to `f_(0)` and `f_(2) = T - P - F_(0)`.
And when `P gt 2F_(0)` then `P - T - F_(0) = ma` .....for A and `T - F_(0) = ma`....for B .....subtract `implies P = 2T`
