Determine `x` so that the line passing through `(3,4)a n d(x ,5)` makes an angle of`` `135^0` angle with positive direction of `x-a xi sdot`

A

`-2`

B

2

C

`-1`

D

1

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
B

Since the line passing through (3,4) and (x,5) makes and angle of `135^(@)` with x-axis. Therefore , its slope is tan `135^(@)` =-1 . But, the slope of the line is also equal to
`(5-4)/(x-3)" "`[Using `:m(y_(2)-y_(1))/(x_(2)-x_(1))`]
`therefore -1=(5-4)/(x-3) implies -x+3 =1 implies x=2`
