If the foot of the perpendicular from the origin to a straight line is at `(3,-4)` , then find the equation of the line.

A

`3x+4y=25`

B

`3x-4y+25=0`

C

`4x+3y-25=0`

D

`4x-3y+25=0`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
A

Let O(0,0) be the origin and P(3,-4) be the given point.
Slope of OP =`-(4)/(3)`
`therefore` Slope of the required line `=(3)/(4)`
Clearly, required line passes through P(3,-4) and is perpendicular to OP. So, its equation is
`y+4=(3)/(4)(x-3)" or, " 3x-4y-25=0`
