The area of a parallelogram is 32 cm^(2)...

The area of a parallelogram is `32 cm^(2)`. If its altitude is twice of its base, then find its base and the altitude

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Let the base of the parallelogram `= x cm`
`:.` altitude `= 2x cm`
Now, the area of parallelogram = base `xx` altitude
`rArr x(2x) = 32`
`rArr 2x^(2) = 32`
`rArr x^(2) = 16`
`rArr x = 4`
`:.` Base of parallelogram = 4 cm
and altitude `= 2x = 2 xx 4 = 8 cm`
