The curved surface of a right circular c...

The curved surface of a right circular cylinder is `4400 cm^(2)` and height is 50 cm. Find its volume and total surface area.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Height of cylinder h = 50 cm.
Let the radius of the base of cylinder = r cm
`therefore` Curved surface `= 2pi rh = 4400`
`rArr 2xx(22)/(7)xx r xx50=4400`
`rArr r=(4400xx7)/(2xx22xx50)=14 cm`
Now, volume of cylinder `= pi r^(2)h`
`=(22)/(7)xx14xx14xx50`
`=30800 cm^(3)`
and total surface area `=(2pi r(h+r)`
`=2xx(22)/(7)xx14(50+14)`
`=88xx64=5632 cm^(2)`
