The total surface area of a cylinder is ...

The total surface area of a cylinder is `1540 cm^(2)`. The height of cylinder is 4 times the radius of the base. Find the height of the cylinder.

Text Solution

Let the radius of the base of cylinder r = x
`therefore` Hight h = 4x
Now, the total surface of cylinder `=2pi r(h+r)`
`=2pi x(4x + x)`
`= 10 pi x^(2)`
Given that `10pi x^(2)=1540`
`rArr 10xx(22)/(7)xx x^(2)=1540`
`rArr x^(2)=(1540xx7)/(10xx22)=7xx7`
`rArr x = 7`
`therefore` Height `=4x =4xx7=28 cm`
