How many times methane diffuses faster than sulphur dioxide?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

According to Graham.s law of diffusion.
` (r_(CH_4))/(r_(SO_4)) = sqrt((M_(SO_2))/(M_(CH_4)))= sqrt((64)/(16)) = sqrt((4)/(1)) = 2`
Hence methane gas diffuses 2 times faster than `SO_2`
