Mouth: salivary amylase secreted by salivary glands acts on starch to convert it into simple sugars.
Stomach: Enzyme pepsinogen gets activated by the presence of HCI and helps in breaking of proteins into peptides and peptones
HCI: helps in killing germs. Mucus prevents the inner lining of stomach from the acidic medium of HCI.
Small Intestine: Major digestion and absorption takes place. Pancreas secretes pancreatic juice which helps in breaking of peptides into peptones and aminoacids.
Liver secretes bile juice which acts upon fats and converts into emulsified fats which is further broken down to fatty acids and glycerol.
Apart from these there is intestinal juice containing intestinal enzymes which helps in digestion of carbohydrates into simple sugar like glucose and glycogen, protein to amino acids and fats to fatty acids and glycerol.
