Back Cross When a cross is made between the `F_1` hybrid and any of the two pureline parents, it is called back cross.
(i) If the `F_1` hybrid is back crossed with dominant homozygous parent, all the `F_2` progeny will be With dominant phenotype.

(ii) But when the `F_1` hybrid is back crossed with recessive parent, both dominant and recessive phenotypes will appear in equal proportion. Back cross plays an important role in plant breeding.
