Solve sin x tan x -sin x+ tan x-1=0 for ...

Solve `sin x tan x -sin x+ tan x-1=0` for `x in [0, 2pi]`.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
`x= pi/4, (5 pi)/4`

`sin x tan x-sin x+tan x-1=0`
`rArr tan x(sin x+1)-(sin x +1)=0`
`rArr (sin x+1) (tan x-1) =0`
`rArr sin x=-1`
or `tan x=1`
For `sin x=-1, tan x` is not defined (as cos x=0).
`:. tan x=1`
`:. x=pi/4, (5pi)/4`
