To protect tall buildings from damage by lightening a lightning conductor is fixed on the Benjamin Franklin developed the idea of using lightning conductor to protect tall buildings A lightning conductor consists of a metal rod ending in pipes at the top end of the rod is attached to a copper plate buried deep in the Earth if lightening does not strike the building it flows harmlessly to the earth through the metal rod and no damage is done to the building.
