Explanation

Back Cross When a cross is made between the `f_(1)` hybrid and any of the two pure parents, it is called back cross. If the `f_(1)` hybrid is back crossed with dominant homozygous parent, all the `F_(2)` -progeny will be with dominant phenotype. But when the `F_(1)` -hybrid is back crossed with recessive parent, both dominant and recessive phenotypes will appear in equal proportion. Back cross plays an important role in plant breeding.
