Polygenic Inheritance A single phenotypic character governed by more than one pair of genes is called polygenic character and the inheritance of these characters is called polygenic inheritance or quantitative inheritance or multiple factor inheritance. Features of Polygenic Inheritance Individually each gene has certain amount of effect on the phenotype, but their combined effect is more significant. Continuous variations are produced by the combined effect of many genes and the environmental factors.
