What is stabilising natural selection?...

What is stabilising natural selection?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Stabilising Natural Selection It is a type of natural selection which eliminates individuals from both ends of a phenotypic distribution. It maintains the same distribution average throughout the population. This selection occurs when natural selection favours individuals with intermediate phenotypic characters expressed by continuous variations. With time, such individuals become dominant whereas individuals with extreme variations are eliminated from a population.
