Yes, as the water used as a coolant in the thermal plants is directly taken from water bodies and gets heated by these processes. When this water is directly sent back to the water bodies, it increases the temperature of water in the water bodies. This increase in temperature causes reduction in the amount of oxygen dissolved in water which leads to death of the aquatic animals and plants.
