The distance between two railwat stations A and B is 440 km. two trains ` T_(1) and T_(2)` start simultaneously from the stations A and B , respectively , and move twards each other. Then train ` T_(1) and T_(2)` start simultaneouslym from the station A and B respectively, and move towards each other. the train` T_(1)` moves with a constant speed of 60 km` h^(-1)` and the train `T_(2)` moves with a speed of `50 km h^(-1)` , Determine the point where they meet and the time taken for this.

Time for which the two trains travel before they meet are equal.
That is `t_(A)=t_(B)`.
But `t_(A)=d_(A)/S_(A),t_(B)=d_(B)/s_(B)`
Let the two trains meet at a distance of X km from A. Then the distance travelled by the other train is (440 - x) km

`x/60=(440-x)/50rArr5x=2640-6x`
`rArr11x=2640rArrx=240km`
The two trains meet each other at a distance of 240 km from A.
Time taken, t = `d_(A)/s_(A)=240/60=4h`
