What modification can you suggest in the Hardy-Schulze rule?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

According to Hardy-Schulze rule, greater the valency of flocculating ion, greater is its power to cause precipitation. This rule takes into consideration only the charge nor the size of an ion. Since, both the size and the charge of an ion determine polarising power hence, this rule can be modified as greater the polarising power of flocculating ion, greater is its power to cause precipitation.
