Show that `sin (cot^(-1) (tan cos^(-1)x)) =x`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

For `theta = cos^(-1) x`, we have the following triangle

`:. E = sin (cot^(-1) (tan (cos^(-1) x)))`
`= sin (cot^(-1) (tan (tan^(-1).(sqrt(1 - x^(2)))/(x))))`
`= sin (cot^(-1).(sqrt(1 - x^(2)))/(x))`
Now, for `alpha = cot^(-1) (sqrt(1 - x^(2)))/(x)`, we have following triangle

`:. E = sin (sin^(-1).(x)/(1)) = x`
