The locus of a point reprersented by x=a...

The locus of a point reprersented by `x=a/2((t+1)/t),y=a/2((t-1)/t)` , where `t in R-{0},` is (a) `x^2+y^2=a^2` (b) `x^2-y^2=a^2` (c)`x+y=a` (d) `x-y=a`

A

`x^2+y^2=a^2`

B

`x^2-y^2=a^2`

C

`x+y=a`

D

`x-y=a`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
A

Here,
`x=(a)/(2)(2+(1)/(t))` .....(1)
`y=(a)/(2)(1-(1)/(t))`......(2)
Adding (i) and (ii) we get `x+y=a`
which is the required locus.
