Find the angle between the minute hand and the hour hand of a clock when the time is 7:20 AM.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

We know that hehour hand completes one rotation in 12 h, while the minute hand completes one rotation in 60 mm.
Angle traced by the hour hand in7 h 20 min,i.e.,`22/3h=(360/12xx22/3)^(@)=220^(@)`
Also, angle traced by the minute hand in 60 min `= 360^(@)`
Angle traced by the minute hand in 20 min=`(360/60xx20)^(@)=120^(@)`
Hence,requiredanglebetweenthetwo handsis `220^@ 120^@ - 100^@`.
