Animals as organ donors for human. Organ transplantation from animal to humans is called as xenotransplantation. First experiment was done in 1906 by French Surgeon Mathieu Jaboulay who implanted pig.s kidney into one woman and goat.s liver into another woman, but is was not successful. Though now, organ transplanation has been made possible in America and United Kingdom. Of all, baboons and pigs are favoured xenotransplant donors. Pig organs have been transplanted to humans several times in the last few years. Baboons are genetically close to humans, so they are most often used. 6 baboons kidneys were transplanted into humans in 1964.
