Genetically Modified Food. The food prepared from the produce of genetically modified crops is called genetically modified food (GM food). It contains proteins produced by transgene. It also contains the enzyme produced by antibiotic resistance gene.
It is an accepted fact now that the biological diversity with different kinds of plants and animals ensures food supply and maintenance of ecological balance in nature. The difference is the type of cultivated plants and domestic animals throughout the world has been determined by difference in natural habitats. It is attributed to their germplasm also. Biological diversity is threatended by encroachment on natural ecosystems by the activities of ever growing human population.
