Can two independent source of light be coherent ? Why ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The two independent sources of light cannot be coherent.
When the two independent sources of light are illuminated, then that atoms of these sources of light are excited by heat. When these excited atoms come to the ground state, they give us energy in the form of light waves. The light wave so obtained from two independent sources cannot be in same phase. Hence, the two independent sources of light cannot be coherent.
