Ram's near point is 50 cm. Find the nature and power of lens which would enable him to read a book placed at 25 cm from his eyes.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Distance of near point = x= 50 cm
D= 25 cm
This defect can be corrected by using convex lens of focal length f.
and `f=(xD)/(x-D)`
`f=(50 xx 25)/(50-25)`
`f=(50xx25)/(25)=50 cm =(1)/(2)m`
Power of the corrective lens = P
`=(1)/(f("in m"))`
`P= (1)/(1//2)=2D`
