Doping: The process of adding impurities in an extrinsic semiconductor is known as doping.
Necessary conditions for doping: (i) Crystal lattice should not be distorted by the doplant atoms.
(ii) The dopant atom replaces the semiconductor atom in the lattice.
(iii) Size of the dopant atom should be almost of same size as that of size of crystal atoms.
