In a transistor, base is always thin and lightly doped. (True/false)

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

When input circuit of a transistor is forward biased, then majority carriers in the emitter region get diffused towards base region. As the base is slightly doped and thin, so most of majority carriers (about 95%) can reach upto collector region, very small amount (5%) of electron -hole recombination takes place. That is why base is lightly doped and made thin.
