Raoult's law for non-volatile solute.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Raoult.s law for non-volatile solute. If the solute B is non - volatile it will not contribute to total vapour pressure of the solution . Therefore
Vapour pressure of solution = Vapour pressure of the solvent, A is solution
`p_(s) = x_(A) xx p_(A)^(@)`
where `p_(s)` is vapour pressure of solution `x_(A)` is mole fraction of solvent in solution and `p_(A)^(@)` is the vapour pressure of the pure solvent
