The solutions (liquid mixtures) which boil at constant temperature and can distil unchanged in composition are called azeotropic mixtures or azeotropes
Azeotropic mixtures have definite composition. Azeotropic mixtures are of two types - (a)minimum boiling azeotrope and (b) maximum boiling azeotrope . Minimum boiling azeotropes are formed by solutions showing positive deviations. An example of this type is a mixture of ethanol `(95%)` and water `(5%)` . Maximum boiling azeotropes are formed by solutions showing negative deviations . An example fo this types is a mixture of water `(80%) ` and HCI `(120%)`
