What is de-icing agent ? How does it function ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Water soluble ionic compounds like `CaCl_(2)` are used to malt snow from roads etc. even when the temperature is below `0^(@) C ` . These non-volatile compounds lower the melting /freezing point of ice and thus helps in melting of snow at sub-zero temperatures.
