Define osmosis. What is the difference between osmosis and diffusion ?

Osmosis . If a solution and its pure solvent are separated by a semi - permeable membrane , then there is movement of the pure solvent through the semi-permeable membrane towards the solution side. This is know as osmosis . The phenomenon of the phenomenon of the flow of the solvent through a semi - permeable membrane from pure solvent to the solution is called osmosis
