Standard or normal hydrogen electrode. A salt bridge consists of a concentrated solution of an inert electrolyte like KCl, `KNO_(3),K_(2)SO_(4)` etc.
mixed with gelatin or agar-agar filled in a glass tube bent according to the requirement of the experiment (generally U-shaped tube)
Functions. (i) it prevents mixing of two electrolytes.
(ii) It prevents liquid junction potential.
(iii) It completes the electrical circuit.
(iv) It maintains electrical neutrality of the solutions in both half cells.
