Boiling point of HCI is lower than HF . Explain why?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Due to smaller size and higher electronegativity of fluorine, HF shows strong intermolecular H-bonding. Thus it exists as associated molecules and boils at a higher temperature than HCI, because no such H-bonding present in HCI.
