Plasticizers are additives that increases the plasticity or fluidity of a material: Their most important application is in plastics specially polyvinyl chloride (P.V.C). Commonly used: plasticizers of P.V.C. are di-n-octyl phthalate (DOP) and di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP), Chlorinated parafiin for polyethene. Plasticizers are added to P.V.C. to make flexible PVC sheets, films, wables footwear etc.
