Sexually transmitted diseases. These are the diseases which are transmitted through sexual intercourse. These are also called as Venereal diseases (VDs) or reproductive tract infections RTIs). e.g., Gonorrhoea, AIDS
Gonorrhoea is caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae AIDS is caused by virus HIV (Human Immuno eficiency Virus)
Prevention.
(a) Avoid sex with unknwon partner/multiple partners.
(b) Avoid blood transfusion from the drug abusers or infected persons.
(c) Always use condoms during coitus.
(d) The sharing of injections needles and surgical instruments to be avoided.
(e) In case of doubt, a qualified doctor may be consulted for early detection and cure.
