Define infertility. Explain two ARTs to check the problem of infertility.

Explanation

Infertility. The inability to produce children inspite of unprotected coitus for one more years is called infertility.
There are different ART methods to solve the infertility problem.
(a) Test tube baby (b) Artificial insemination
(c) GIFT (d) ICSI etc.
(a) Test tube baby. The baby produced as a result of external or In Vitro fertilisation (IVF followed by embryo transfer (ET) in a receptive female either upto 8 cell stage in the fallopian tube (ZIFT) or in the uterus (IUT) if more than 8 cell stage of embryo. It is an ART (Assisted Reproducti Technology) method which helps in solving infertility problems in the couples.
(b) Gamete intra-fallopian transfer (GIFT). It includes the transfer of ovum from a done into the fallopian tube of another female who cannot ovulate due to one or other reason along men.s sperm but can provide suitable environment for fertilisation and further development.
