Two paricles A and B start at the origin...

Two paricles A and B start at the origin O and travel in opposite directions along the circular path at constant speeds `v_(A)=0.7ms^(-1)` and `v_(B)=1.0ms^(-1)`, respectively.
Determine the time when they collide and the magnitude of the acceleration of B just before this happens.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
`14.3 s, 0.45 ms^(-2)`

`(v_(A)+v_(B))t=2piR, (0.7+1.5) t=2xx22/7xx5`
`t=(2xx22xx5)/(7xx2.2)xx10=100/7`sec`=14.3` sec
Acceleration of B `=v_(B)^(2)/R=1.5^(2)/5=0.45 m//s^(2)`
