Haloarenes are insoluble in water but soluble in benzene. Explain.

Explanation

As a large amount of energy is required to break the H-bond between water and to overcome ti forces present between the haloarenes. But energy released during the formation of new bon between haloarenes and water molecules is very less as compared to forces already present water molecule. But haloarenes are soluble in benzene as the energy released is same as the energy required in dissolving them due to same nature.
