Polyamides : The condensation polymers containing diamines and dibasic acids linked through the amide linkage (-CONH-) are known as polyamides. These are also known as nylons. Synthesis of nylon -6 : Caprolactum is the monomer unit of nylon - 6. When caprolactum is heated with water, it gives aminocaproic acid. This acid on polymerisation gives nylon - 6.

Use : It is used in the manufacturing of type cords and fabrics.
