The carcinogenic hydrocarbons are polynuclear hydrocarbons containing more than two benzene rings. These are formed by incomplete combustion of organic materials like coal, petroleum and tobacoo. They enter into human body and produce cancer by damaging DNA. So these are known as carcinogenic or cancer causing hydrocarbons.
