Hydrogen and oxygen combine in the ratio...

Hydrogen and oxygen combine in the ratio of 1:8 by mass to form water. What mass of oxygen gas would be required to react completely with 3 g of hydrogen gas?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Ratio by mass in which hydrogen and oxygen combine to form water = 1:8
i.e. Mass of oxygen gas required to react completely with 1g of hydrogen = 8 g
`therefore` Mass of oxygen gas required to react completely with 3 g of hydrogen = `8xx3` = 24g
