The formula mass of an acid is `82.0. 100 cm^(3)` of a solution of this acid containing 39.0 g of the acid per litre were completely neutralized by `95.0 cm^(3)` of aqueous NaOH containing 40.0 gof NaOH per litre. What is the basicity of the acid?

The correct Answer is:
2

Normality of acid `= (39)/(82// n xx I) ` Normality of `Na OH = ( 40)/(40) xx (1000)/(1000) =1`
Now, Meq. Of acid = Meq. Of NaOH `(39)/(82) xx 100 = 1 xx 95`
`therefore n = 2, i.e, ` acid is dibasic.
