Methanal or formaldehyde (HCHO) and Ethanal or acetaldehyde `(CH_(3)CHO)` : Out of these two only ethanal or acetaldehydes gives iodoform test i.e., yellow ppt. of iodoform, `CHI_(3)` on warming with `I_(2)` and NaOH.
