Write a chemical test to distinguish between Acetic acid and Acetone.

(i) Acetic acid, being acidic , will turn the litmus red. Acetone is neutral and as such it has no effect on litmus paper.
(ii) Out of these two only acetic acid will give brisk effervescence with sodium bicarbonate. It is due to its acidic nature.
