A galvanometer gives full scale deflecti...

A galvanometer gives full scale deflection with the current `I_g`. Can it be converted into an ammeter of range `I < I _g`?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Value of shunt `S = (I_(g)G)/(I-I_(g))`
When `I lt I_(g)`, value of shunt S will be negative, which is not possible. Hence, range of ammeter cannot be `lt I_(g)`.
