Calculate the concentration of a solution in volume per cent made when 56 g water is mixed with 0.17 L of ethanol

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Volume of water =`("mass ")/("density ")`
` = (56 g)/(1.0 g cm^(-3)) = 56 cm^3 = 56 m L`
Volume of ethanol = 0.17 L=0.17 `xx` 1000 mL = 170 mL
` therefore ` volume of solution = (56 + 170) mL = 226 mL
` therefore ` concentration per cent by volume `=(56)/(226 ) xx 100 =24.78 %`
