(a) Why is Plaster of Paris written as `CaSO_(4)1//2H_(2)O` How is it possible to have half a water molecule attached to `CaSO_(4)` ?

The formula of plaster of Paris is written as `CaSO_(4).1//2H_(2)O` because one moleculae of water is shered by two formula units of `CaSO_(4)` , I . E ., thr formula is `(CaSO_(4))_(2)*H_(2)O` . Thus , it represents half molecule of `H_(2)O` per formula unit of `CaSO_(4)` .
