What is black body radiation ? How are frequency and wave number related to each other ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

If the substance being heated is a black body (which is a perfect absorber and perfect radiator of energy, i.e., which can emit and absorb all frequencies), the radiation emitted is called black body radiation. `c=v lamda=v(1)/(v)" or "v=cbar(v)` where c is velocity of light, v is frequency and `bar(v)` is wave number.
