Assertion: A body at rest or a body in uniform motion is always in equilibrium
Reason: No net forces act on a body in equilibrium.

A

IF both assertion and reason are true and reason is the correct explanation of assertion

B

If both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of assertion

C

If assertion is true but reason is false

D

If assertion is false but reason is true

The correct Answer is:
D

For a body in equilibrium net external force should be zero. If several forces `F_1, F_2 and F_3` are acting on the body , then `F_1+F_2+F_3….=0` According to Newton first law, a body will continue in its state of rest or uniform motion along a straight line unless compelled to change its change its state by external forces. The assertion does not specify that the body is moving along a straight line. It may be in uniform motion along a circle. Therefore, assertion is not true for all kinds of uniform motion
