Two objects `m_1 and m_2` are moving in the straight line approaching each other as shown. After collisions these objects together. What will be the velocity of the combined object after collisions?

Let V be the velocity of combined object after collisions
Initial momentum =`m_1u_1-m_2u_2`
`=2 times 5-3 times 2=4 kg ms^-1`
Final momentum =`(m_1+m_2) V=(2+3) V=5V`
Using law of conservation of momentum
`implies 5V=4`
`V=4/5 implies V=0.8 ms^-1`

Two objects of masses 100g and 200g are moving along the same line in the same line in the same direction with velocities of 2m//s and 1m//s , respectively. They collide and after the collison, the first object moves at a velocity of 1.67 m//s in the same direction. Determine the velocity of the second object.

Two spheres made of clay of masses 'm_(1)' and 'm_(2)' moving along a straight line in the same direction collide with each other. Their velocities just before collision are 'u_(1)' and 'u_(2)' respectively. After collision, they stick together and move with teh same velocity, in the same direction, along the straight line. Find the velocity with which they move together.
